AGU Logo

Welcome to Accessible Graphical UIs.

This site hosts doctoral research conducted with the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. It is therefore a work in progress, rather than an established entity. All research is related to the problem of providing blind users better access to graphical user interfaces (GUIs).

The accessibility problem posed by GUIs has been the topic of research for many years already. Information about past research and sources consulted throughout this research can be found in the bibliography section of this site. Articles concerning the work presented on this site can be found in the publications section.

About the logo...

The Accessible Graphical UIs logo is based on a famous drawing by Leonardo da Vinci, known as "The Vitruvian Man". It provides a representation of the so-called Vitruvian proportions of a man's body. The universal nature of this early drawing is represented here as a symbol for the Design For All and Universal Access principles that are the cornerstone of the work presented at this website.

What about the ads?

The decision was made to use ad banners served by Google on these web pages. The majority of all research presented here is funded by the author, and running ads may help reduce the personal investment a little bit.

There isn't that much content yet?

This site is currently being built. More content will appear here over the next few week and months.
